Her journey into entrepreneurship began with a deep passion for innovation and a desire to make a positive impact in her community. From a young age, she has always been fascinated by the idea of creating something from nothing, of bringing ideas to life and seeing them flourish.

In this interview she shared with us her hopes, her values and ambitions. Enjoy the read.

AFC What piqued your interest in scents and fragrances?

TIFE: The passion for scents and fragrances has been in me since childhood. I’ve always been captivated by the way “nice smells” could just make me happy and uplift my spirit.

However, it was during my service year as a youth corps member in Abuja, Nigeria, that my fascination with fragrances truly blossomed. Being immersed in the vibrant and diverse culture of Nigeria’s capital city exposed me to beautiful aromatic experiences, from traditional Nigerian scents to modern international fragrances. It was during this time that I gained a deeper understanding of the artistry behind fragrances and their ability to evoke memories and emotions. This experience ignited a spark within me, pushing me on a journey through the aromatic landscapes of the world, where I continue to explore and discover the captivating world of scents and fragrances.

AFC: How did you start “Scents Pro”?

TIFE : It all started with a passion for fragrance. Initially, I dipped my toes into the world of scents by retailing luxury perfumes and body oils. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t the endgame—it was just the beginning. I wanted to delve deeper, to explore the transformative power of scent and create immersive sensory experiences.

That’s when the idea for Scents Pro (the name meaning a connoisseur of scent) was born.

Fueled by a desire to fill a gap in the market for indigenous, premium home fragrance products, I embarked on a journey of research, curation, and innovation, and in January 2020, Scents Pro Home Fragrance was born.

Each scent in our collection is carefully crafted to evoke emotions, memories, and ambiance, catering to the tastes of discerning clientele.

With a focus on uncompromising quality and a commitment to luxury, Scents Pro has become more than just a brand—it’s a symbol of sophistication and indulgence. We’re sharing the essence of Nigeria and telling the African story through scents.

And I’m thrilled to continue this journey, bringing the magic of scent to homes and spaces everywhere.

AFC: Can you tell us about the most difficult component of managing a fragrance company?

TIFE: Managing a fragrance company comes with its fair share of challenges, but I’d say one of the toughest components is staying ahead of the scent trends. It’s like trying to predict the next big thing in fashion—you have to constantly anticipate what fragrances consumers will love or what they’ll crave next. It’s a delicate balance between innovation and tradition, trying to create scents that are both timeless classics and cutting-edge sensations. 

Plus, with so many variables like seasonality, age, cultural influences, and evolving consumer preferences, it’s a real juggling act to keep our product line fresh and exciting. But that’s what makes it so thrilling—the challenge of constantly pushing the boundaries and delighting our customers with new olfactory experiences!

AFC: What distinguishes your products from the competition?

TIFE: Our products stand out from the competition because of our relentless focus on quality and innovation. We’re not just here to sell; we’re here to revolutionize the industry. Scents Pro is constantly pushing boundaries, exploring new ideas, and refining our products to ensure they exceed expectations. Plus, we’re all about customer satisfaction. 

We listen to our customers’ feedback and integrate their suggestions into our designs. So when you choose our products, you’re not just getting a product; you’re getting a top-notch experience tailored to your needs.

AFC: Are you more concerned with expansion or profitability in your business?

TIFE: Honestly, it’s a bit of a balancing act for me. Of course, I’m always looking to grow and expand my business, but not at the expense of profitability. Expansion is exciting because it means reaching new markets, serving more customers, and having a bigger impact. But at the end of the day, profitability is what keeps the lights on and the business running smoothly. So, I’d say I’m equally concerned with both. I want to grow, but I want to do it in a way that’s sustainable and profitable in the long run.

AFC: How do you ensure that your products are effective and safe?

We’re all about ensuring our products are not only effective but also safe for everyone. Being an eco-friendly company, we’re committed to crafting products that are gentle on the environment and safe for people of all ages, from little ones to grandparents, and even our beloved pets.

We put a lot of care and attention into our product development process, using high-quality, natural

ingredients that are rigorously tested to meet our standards for effectiveness and safety. So, you can trust that when you use any scent pro products, you’re not only getting great results but also peace of mind knowing they’re safe for you, your family, and your pets. No ifs, ands, or buts.

AFC: What important business values do you prioritize, and why?

TIFE: I’d say integrity and authenticity are right up there for me. It’s all about being true to yourself and others in every aspect of business. When you lead with integrity, it builds trust and credibility, which are crucial for long-term relationships and success. Plus, authenticity breeds innovation and creativity, allowing you to bring your unique perspective to the table and stand out in a crowded market. So yeah, those values are pretty non-negotiable for me.

AFC: How do you stay creative and up-to-date with industry trends?

TIFE: Well, for me, staying creative and up-to-date with the home fragrance industry trends is all about keeping my senses open and staying curious. I love exploring new scents, whether it’s by visiting scent stores or browsing online for inspiration. And of course, I’m always experimenting with new scent combinations and techniques in my own work, pushing the boundaries of creativity to keep things fresh and exciting.

AFC: What recommendations would you provide to prospective fragrance company founders?

TIFE : For aspiring fragrance company founders, I’d say: do your research; don’t be afraid to get creative; don’t skimp on quality; and be original!

AFC: Can you provide any client success stories or testimonials?

TIFE: Absolutely! We’ve had so many heartwarming testimonials from our clients, and each one just reaffirms the impact we’re making. One that really stood out to me was when a client called in to express her gratitude. She received one of our diffusers as a gift, and she’s been using diffusers for years, but this time, she was blown away and she wanted some more. She said, “I’ve been using diffusers for a long time, but I must say, this is one of the best I’ve had. The fragrance welcomes me every time I open my door in the most amazing way.”

Also When a client placed an order for some scented products but was hesitant because they had an infant in their home, after some assurance that our product was safe for all, he went ahead to purchase, and a few weeks later he was back to leave us with an absolutely warm feedback confirmation that our products are true to what we say they are.

It’s moments like these that truly make our work worthwhile.

AFC: In your product creation, how do you tackle sustainability and ethical sourcing?

TIFE: Sustainability and ethical sourcing are huge priorities for us when it comes to crafting our home fragrance products. We’re all about keeping things green and clean! So, we make sure to use eco-friendly materials and ingredients that are responsibly sourced, and we always strive to minimize our environmental footprint.

Plus, we’re all about supporting local communities and businesses whenever we can. It’s not just about making our homes smell amazing; it’s about doing it in a way that’s good for the planet and the people on it.

AFC: What are your ambitions for the company’s future?

TIFE : I am dreaming big for Scents Pro! My vision is for Scents Pro to become the go-to destination for anyone seeking premium home and space scents. We want to expand our product line, introducing even more exquisite fragrances that captivate the senses and elevate every space.

Beyond that, we aim to grow our presence globally, bringing the luxury of Scents Pro to homes, businesses, and spaces around the world. Telling the Nigerian and African story through premium fragrances.

Ultimately, we’re committed to setting new standards of sophistication and indulgence in the scenting industry, and we won’t stop until we’ve achieved our vision.
